The park features eleven picnic pavilions, as well as an extensive children’s play area with playground equipment atop a rubberized safety surface.

Located in the heart of Sunrise, Welleby Park is a hidden gem in the midst of the city. As I arrived at the park, I was immediately greeted by the lush greenery and tranquil lake that runs through the park. The first thing that caught my eye was the large playground set, perfect for families with children. The playground was surrounded by a large open field, where I saw many families having picnics and enjoying a game of soccer or frisbee.

Welleby Park Amenities

As I made my way further into the park, I was amazed by the variety of activities and amenities it had to offer. There were multiple covered picnic areas with tables and grills, making it a great spot for a family barbecue. I also noticed many people riding their bikes on the paved trail that runs through the park, and some were even renting kayaks and canoes to explore the lake. Next to the lake, there was a small dock where people could fish or just sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Kayaking At Welleby Park

Feeling adventurous, I decided to rent a kayak and take a tour around the lake. As I paddled along, I was greeted by the sight of various bird species, including herons and egrets gracefully gliding across the water. The serene and tranquil ambiance of the lake was a welcomed change from the bustling city life. The park also offers guided tours for those who want to learn more about the flora and fauna in the area.

After my kayak adventure, I decided to take a break and have a snack at one of the picnic tables. From there, I had a perfect view of the lake and could see many people enjoying the various water activities. I also noticed some people jogging or walking along the trails, making use of the park’s fitness stations that were scattered throughout. It was heartwarming to see people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to enjoy the outdoors.
