The time it takes to get from your landing airport to your destination varies mostly due to transfer availability and budget, in this blog post I try to cover both, I hope it helps you in some way! If your journey begins at Tenerife South Airport and your destination is the beautiful Puerto de la Cruz, fret not! I’ve compiled a guide to help you navigate the various transportation options, ensuring a smooth transition from the airport to Puerto de la Cruz which is 88km (55 miles) away.

1. Taxis

For a quick and direct journey, taxis are a convenient option. Taxis are readily available at Tenerife South Airport, and the ride to Puerto de la Cruz typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. While taxis may be a bit more expensive, between 100 – 120 euros, the comfort and ease of reaching your destination make it a popular choice, especially for those with luggage. 2. Shuttle Services

Several shuttle services operate at the airport, providing shared rides to popular destinations like Puerto de la Cruz. This budget-friendly option allows you to share the journey with fellow travellers, making it a sociable and cost-effective choice. Keep in mind that travel times may vary depending on the number of stops and cost between 30 – 40 euros. 3. Rental Cars

For the freedom to explore Tenerife at your own pace, renting a car is an excellent option. Although most of the rental agencies are conveniently located at the airport some will deliver the car to your Hotel if you prefer, we recommend autoreisen, cicar and sanasty because they have a no deposit policy which we like! The cars cost anywhere between 20 -30 euros per day to rent. 4. Public Buses

Tenerife’s well-connected public bus network offers an economical way to reach Puerto de la Cruz. Buses depart from the airport, and while the journey may take longer due to multiple stops, it provides an opportunity to enjoy scenic views and immerse yourself in the local culture. Check the bus schedule in advance, especially on weekends and holidays when services may be less frequent.
